[He laughs.]

I am a man who loves sweets.

[She offers a gentle laugh.]

What kind of sweets? Maybe I can make them myself.

They're pretty good. I can try making them into shapes, if you want.

[And a few hours later:]

Cookies are done! Where should I deliver them?

Oh! How expedient.

I am in the common room at present. Third floor.

On my way! Hope you're comfortable.

Be there shortly!

[And she's off! There's a thermos filled with coffee too with her basket full of cookies.]

Iago, yes?

Iago is lounging in a chair, an unmarked book in hand. He raises his eyebrows when she approaches and sets it aside with a smile. "I did not expect you this soon," he remarks playfully.

"Ah, well. Ovens are very handy."

She beamed at him, offering him the basket. The cookies were still warm, offering the sweet scent of the freshly baked.

"Plus, I wanted to meet you in person. What can I say? I was excited!"

Her laugh was light and bright, clearly at ease.

He smiles back at her, taking the basket. "Well, you don't expect me to eat these alone, do you? You must enjoy the fruits of your labor."

"Well, thank you! I'll be glad to join you."

Couldn't go wrong with company and cookies.

She sat down, tucking her skirt under her as she did. "So, what have you been reading? I haven't done much reading myself."

He puts the book aside and sits forward. "I'm reading the Crucible now. We didn't have the option of simply leisurely reading, unless it was the Bible, at home. I am enjoying the chance to go through the various texts."

"The Bible...oh! Right! That's the religious book!"

She nodded. She knew of it, more or less."I didn't get much time to read either, so-I'm glad we have the library."

She beamed at him. "Are you enjoying the Crucible? Anything else you really enjoyed reading?"

"That's right," he tells her with a gentle smile. "I've finished an adventure book - Journey to the Center of the Earth, that I found quite interesting."

"Yeah- we don't have anything like that at home. But- I'll have to put that on my list to read. The Journey to the Center of the Earth I mean." She offered a smile.

"It sounds like a fantasy, but a very fun read."

"I'm not sure," he laughs. "Have you spoken with some of the people here? They're fantasy characters, every one!"

"Oh, I might be one of them then." She offered as a gentle tease. "Or maybe you are to some people?"

He puts a hand to his chest. "Oh no. I'm just a soldier from the distant past. Are you familiar with Trevor Belmont? We're only a century or so apart, though he deals more with the supernatural than I do. Ghosts and...and strange creatures and such."
