Called me a word - vermin- and aimed to spear me through with the wing. He managed to get my arm and pin me, but Cat King appeared to distract him. He has his court follow me, I'm sure."
He breathes out, taking a few moments to break. "He told me to run and I did so because I really...do hate tragically romantic endings. I thought I could perhaps find help."
He shakes his head. "I had lost too much blood."
He let Sokie feed from him only hours before, which he knows hastened things.
He takes another break. "I didn't get far. He killed my cat and then came for me."
Mikodez sits patiently, sipping his own cup off hot chocolate as he listens.
When Iago finishes, he rests a gentle hand on his arm a moment. "You made the smart choice." He's not much of a romantic, but he's pretty sure that even if he was he'd think it more romantic to try to get help. It prevents tragic levels of stupidity, anyway.
"I have no doubt on that score. I'm sure you remember our discussion on submitting a request before you take any action on certain matters."
He's usually not a big believer in repeating himself but both Iago and his lover were killed, and Mikodez is proud of him so he's willing to remind him.
He coughs. "The reminder is unecessary," he assures him and is quiet for a long moment as he gathers himself. "It won't be a repeat of Varker. But I will not tolerate his moralizing," he adds.
